About Me

Illustration of a black bird with a speech bubble saying there's no agile playbook.

I’m Sally Sloley. I help companies understand their work and find ways to keep improving.

I’m not going to bring you someone else’s solution for your unique situation. What I bring is a curiosity about what you do and how you got there, and an openness to discover where you want to go. I’ll work with you to create a way to move towards your goals without forcing major changes up front. I’ll give you options and let you decide where you want to be.

I started my career at Microsoft, where I led global delivery teams across 44 languages and multiple time zones. I managed end-to-end delivery for properties like Microsoft Store, MSN, Xbox, and Microsoft.com. That experience taught me what it takes to get work done well across complex environments with a lot of moving parts.

Since then, I’ve spent the last decade working with companies across Australia. I help teams see how their work actually flows, find where things get stuck, and figure out what to do about it. I use lean, kanban, and continuous improvement practices - not because they’re trendy, but because they work.

I’m an accredited trainer through Kanban University, Modus Institute, and ICAgile. I’ve delivered keynotes and workshops across the US, Australia, Japan, India, Europe, and Southeast Asia. I also wrote a book called #stopbadagile because I’ve seen too many companies get sold bad solutions by people who don’t understand what agility actually means.

I believe work doesn’t have to hurt. When teams have transparency, a shared sense of direction, and the freedom to improve how they work, everything changes.

Working with me

See the Work

Most of the time, the first thing I do is help teams see what’s actually happening. Not what the reports say, not what the slide decks claim - what’s really going on. I use value stream mapping, kanban boards, and flow metrics to make the invisible visible. Once people can see their work clearly, they almost always know what needs to change.

Improve How It Flows

I help teams figure out why things take so long, where work gets stuck, and what’s causing the bottlenecks everyone feels but nobody can point to. I use lean and kanban practices to help teams reduce their cycle times, stop starting too many things at once, and finish what they start. This isn’t theory, it’s practical, measurable improvement.

Training

I deliver accredited courses through Kanban University, Modus Institute, and ICAgile, plus custom workshops designed around your specific challenges. I can train your teams in kanban, lean, value stream mapping, prioritization, and more. Check the Kanban Courses page for what’s available.

Start Small

You don’t have to start with a big commitment. Bring me in for a few days. I’ll talk with your people, look at how work moves through your system, and give you an honest picture of where you are and what you could try. No lengthy contracts required. If it helps, we’ll talk about what’s next. If it doesn’t, you’ll still walk away with something useful.
