#stopbadagile

With so many misconceptions, too many companies have been told they are doing agile, but they aren’t seeing the benefits after multiple, multi-million dollar “transformations”. They are losing faith in something they haven’t actually experienced. I created #stopbadagile to shine a light on what agility means. My hope is that together we can bring agile back to its essence so we can continue to help companies experience what agility really does look like. I've created illustrations of over 130 birds that help me highlight the things that are sold as agile or are expected of agilists but won't result in agility.

All the birds are created by me in Procreate they are not AI generated.

Card Decks are Available!

The Cards

Want my birds for your very own? I've created a deck of cards that can be shared, used in retrospectives, hung up to start converstations, or what ever you think would help #stopbadagile.

The 55 card pack has 52 of the birds with 3 instructions cards. The 36 card deck is a sub-set of the other deck. It has 33 of the 52 birds from the larger deck plus the three instruction cards.

If you live in Sydney I have a 47 card deck availble for 20$ Ping me if you are interested.

The Book - COMING SOON!

Are you a leader who was part of an agile transformation that didn't provide your company with the promised results?

Are you an employee suffering under one or more failed agile transformations?

"You can't buy an agile transformation: #stopbadagile" is a wake-up call for anyone who's been sold a promise of agility that never delivered. Too many organizations have been told that buying a freamework, rolling-out tools, and making everyone move to the same "ways of working" will make them agile. The truth? Those one-size-fits-all solution can't solve your actual problems and most often makes companies worse off than they were before.

This book exposes the myths and misconception that are packaged and sold as agile and shows you why they fail and what was lost in translation. More importantly it offers a path forward: co-creating context and data driven change that will help your people, your customers, and help you achieve your outcomes.

If any of this sounds familiar, you need to read this book!

How to Use the cards to #stopbadagile

Team Retro

Have the team pull all the cards from the deck that they recognize from their job. Discuss. Make a list of the one's they plan to explore. Have them choose one that they will eliminate with their team and share with the company.

1, 2, 4, all

Have each person find one card that resonates with them. Next create pairs and have them discuss which is the one they want to stop. Now create groups of 4 and do the same. Now each group of four share their top bird. Now create the list on a wall where everyone can see it.

Disagree? Curious?

Ask your org to go through and bring anything they don't understand or disagree with to either their coach, scrum master, or have them get in touch with me on this site or on LinkedIn.

Why? What? How?

Choose a card to discuss. Ask the group

Why is the bird sharing this?

What are you observing in your org?

How can you #stopbadagile

Designed by Tracy Katlack

Dysfunctions

1) The group votes for five of the bird cards by relevance in their company context (2 Minutes)
2) The group starts with the most relevant card and discusses how to prevent this in the future. (10 Minutes)
3) Rinse repeat till number 5
